The SCCC show is up at the Art Center. It looks good. When youre there also wander up to the Third Floor gallery and look for the Briar Cliff Review Exhibit. Bob Gillespie and Randy Williams have photos in that show.
Practice your sport photography: Twin Bing Bicycle Road Race on Saturday, 21 March and organized by the SC Velo racing team. Start time of 10:00 AM for the pro-class racers (3 laps, 68 miles); 10:15 AM for the amateur-class racers (2 laps, 45 miles). The race starts in the center of Climbing Hill, IA and runs west on D54, north on Old Highway 141, east on D38 through Bronson, IA, then back south to Climbing Hill on K64. Ive ridden this route and it is VERY hilly.
Let Larry Crabb know if you need a new name tag. He plans to update his files and will print tags for new members or for members who need a new tag.
New Business:
Scott Bricker sent an e-mail proposal to move the SCCC show from the SC Art Center to the LeMars Art Center. Here is Scotts e-mail proposal:
I'd mentioned a month or two ago, about moving the pictures from the SC Art Center up to the LeMars Art Center, at the end of March's showing. Thing is, LeMars would not show them until June, they are booked up with exhibits until then. It would also be mean club members pictures/frames being gone until the end of June. And since camera club doesn't meet in the summer, it would maybe be September's club meeting(s) for return. Although something could certainly be worked out if a member needed a photo back sooner. Also, there were 20 pictures in Sioux City, and I mentioned to the LeMars director that there might be only 15 to 20 prints, if someone needed their picture before the end of June and couldn't participate.
LeMars Art Center does sales similar to Sioux City. Should a print sell, 70% for the owner, 30% for the LeMars Art Center. I could handle "tear down" and get the pictures up to LeMars, and get them back to a club meeting. Bob G. also mentioned that we could probably use the same "tags" with the artist's name, title, and price, that the SC Art Center made.
June might not be the busiest time for the LeMars Art Center, however, LeMars' "Ice Cream Days" celebration falls in June for a long weekend, and the art center has a special fund raising project it is running in conjunction with that. Could bring a little extra traffic, it's a weekend when a lot of class reunions are held, and "visits to home" are made. Also, that Saturday during the "Ice Cream Days" celebration, there is an "Art in the Park" show just a few blocks away.
All members were in favor of Scotts proposal. The prints will be in storage with Scott until the June show. If you need your print, then let Scott know and he will make arrangements with you to have it returned. Bob Gillespie said he could retrieve a print from LeMars if the photographer needs to have it back. Check with Scott first, though.

Announcements:
Thanks to Paula Warp for taking this notes for me!
Larry passed out information about stitching software HUGIN - panorama photo-stitching software for MAC, PC, or LINUX (Unix). This is FREE beta software. We also discussed taking a panorama shot - take it VERTICALLY and pivot - use aperture priority.
Bill Cullenward was absent so Larry gave the treasurer's report. $1,177
Steve Paulson announced that Josh (?) has used Canon Lenses for sale at Gordon's Pawn Shop on Nebraska Street.
Curt Stoever presented a medal to Carl Hardy for SCCC Newsletter receiving 3rd place at the N4C Convention.
It will be listed in the N4C Newsletter. The family of Doc Winegardens is selling his camera equipment on E-Bay.
SCCC exhibits at the Sioux City Art Center. Thanks to all who contributed. Please go and see it.
Upcoming meetings: When Paula booked the church for May 5, the secretary asked about Maundy Thursday, if we would be meeting then. I said probably, but I would ask the members. If there was a change we would let her know. If the club decides to go earlier April 2 is available. Will discuss at the next meeting.
10 December 2009. The church secretary said the Heart Association has requested the sanctuary for that date. Paula said it probably wouldn't interfere, but would as the members. At the meeting Larry said it shouldn't be a problem and that because of Christmas the SCCC will probably have to meet a week earlier. Paula will let the church secretary know there is no conflict.
New Business:
SCCCs Year End Banquet will be Tuesday, 5 May. We will gather at 6:00 PM with dinner being served at 6:30 PM. Our date is set due to our speaker for the evening, Matt Miller. Matt is a photographer for the Omaha World-Herald. His Highway 20 Project about life along that highway is/was being shown at our Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.
SCCC Year-End Banquet 5 May 2009.
Gather at 6:00 PM with the meal 6:30 PM.
The program is Matt Miller, Omaha World-Herald photographer.
Paula has contracted with Timmy's Catering of LeMars for the dinner. There is no travel fee. Price of meal to be determined. If we have over 50 in attendance it will be less. They don't need to have a count until 1 week before. The club decided that those attending should pre-pay. Paula passed around a sign-up sheet.
Award Ribbons. We have enough for the remainder of this year but will probably have to order more for next year.
Larry will make name tags for new members. If you don't have a name tag let Larry know. Sheet in name tag box to write your name. He'll also double check with the treasurer.
Print judging was first, then slides.
A good crowd considered the bad weather.
