SCCC BROCHURE COMING: Recent reports from the grapevine indicate that Bob Gillespie and Fran Kingsbury are working on a new brochure for the club. Well, REALLY, Phyllis Gillespie is the talent behind the project. But it is in process, and a method of selecting photos to be used in the brochure is under study. In order to be fair to all club members it has been suggested that those members interested in furnishing a photo for the brochure place their name in a hat at the January 11 meeting, at which time a drawing will be held to select the winners. Those members who are not able to be at the January 11 meeting to throw their name in the hat should contact Bob Gillespie who will place their name in the drawing. Prints should be turned in at the January 31 meeting and should be no larger than 8x10, black and white only. The photo for the cover will be selected by drawing from among those members submitting prints.

JANUARY WHITE SALE..... No not sheets, pillow cases, and towels but camera equipment. January 11 at the SCCC meeting you will have a chance to sell all that stuff or "junk" that you bought at the white elephant sale last year. Bring your stuff marked as to price and name for display on the tables, which will be furnished. There is no charge for club members. Non club members are assessed a 10% fee for all items sold. Given the current departure into digital phtography, items could include computer hardware and software in addition to the usual photo equipment

January Program
by Bob Gillespie

Part 1 of January program will cover the A to Z of the new Hasselblad Xpan camera. This dual format camera is unique in that it can produce either panoramic pictures that are two 35mm frames wide or single 35mm pictures. After you get the picture the fun begins. Attend the meeting and find out why.

Part 2 will cover the use of liquid emulsion to produce fine art black and white pictures. For those of you that saw the December program about the western photographers, this is almost a step back in time like coating wet plates to produce a negative. The program will cover various sources, handling and processing, coating the paper, printing, drying, toning, and hand coloring. The only limit is your imagination.

Photo of the week contest:

I received a phone call from Jan Dehner, editor of the "Weekender Magazine" saying they are going to run a new feature in their magazine entitled "Photo of the Week".

They would like entries from the Camera Club if anyone would like to submit. Along with the photo they need a "By Line" (Photo by), a brief story of the photo, and a brief history of the photographer.

Photos can be prints or slides. She said they will scan them. All photos shoud be recent, taken within the last 1-3 weeks. Prints and slides, along with information can be taken to "Williams and Company " 814 Pierce St. or they can be E-mailed to tgr@willconsult.com
