Fall Ramblings

October is here with its fall colors, frosty mornings, football games, homecoming parades and Halloween. All great excuses for picture taking, so get those cameras out and start shooting.

I have driven through Bacon Creek Park, Hillside Park, and did a once around on the trail at the Adam's Nature Center in the past week. All have some nice color and as an added bonus there are a few butterflies still around.

One more nice thing about this time of year is you don't have to get up at four or five o'clock in the morning to catch that beautiful early morning light and those long haunting shadows. So, no excuses. Load up with film, jump in the car or put on those walking shoes and get out there taking pictures. Tom Atkinson

MEETING DATE AND PLACE

Our next meeting will be at Digi Tech Studio in the Benson Bldg. ,701 Douglas St. The meeting is Oct. 12 at 7:30 . Enter and park on the west side of the bldg. Follow the signs. Digi Tech has just purchased $80,000 worth of digital equipment and will be showing us this and how they use their equipment. Roger V.K.

DINE WITH US

We will meet again this month at Sirloin Stockade for dinner. Be there by 6 P.M. You will have plenty of time to eat and socialize before the meeting.

ART CENTER EXHIBIT OPENING

The Sioux City Camera Club juried show "Siouxland Nature at its Best" Opened on Saturday Sept. 16 at the Sioux City Art Center. Considering that was also the night of the N4C convention banquet, there was a good representation from the club . Photographs are hung in the 3rd floor gallery and will be on display through October 29. Stop by and take a look.

N4C CONVENTION

Congratulations to all the individual SCCC members on their year end awards and to the club as a whole for winning this year's N4C prize for Big Club of the Year. The N4C convention for 2000 was a huge success judging by comments from all those participating. A big thank you needs to be said for all the club members who over the last three years have devoted a great deal of time and effort to make it so.

JUDGES, TREATS AND PROGRAM

October judges - print - Carl Hardy & slides - Jim Hollander
October Program - Roger Van Klompenburg
October Treats - Roger Van Klompenburg

NOTICE - NO STORAGE AT CHURCH

Because of space concerns at the church we will no longer be able to store slide projectors, coffee pots, and the box for treats. Therefore it was decided to have the judges for the upcoming month take all the judging materials with them after the end of month meeting and keep them through the month. For those bringing treats, bring cups, plates, and coffee. The church is offering the use of their coffee pot and other utensils we may need from the kitchen.
